Pay rises
The P table rose 3.0%, at least €110, on 1 April 2025 and a further 2.8% on 1 May 2026.
Allowances
On top come the nursing allowance of €141.82 a month since 1 May 2026 and a fixed allowance of €25 (€35 with the Baden-Württemberg municipal employers). Permanent rotating shift work in hospitals pays €250 a month, permanent shift work €100.
Steps
P 5 and P 6 start at step 1, P 7 to P 16 at step 2. The usual step times apply after that, but care staff in P 7 and P 8 reach step 3 only after three years at step 2, except for example in intensive care, operating theatres or dialysis.
Annual bonus
In municipal hospitals and care homes in 2026: 90% in P 5 to P 8, 85% in P 9 to P 16. For federal staff 95% in P 5 to P 9 and 90% above.
Working hours
38.5 hours a week in hospitals (39 in Baden-Württemberg), 39 hours in care homes and for federal staff.

Frequently asked questions
Does the P table apply at university hospitals?
No. Nursing staff employed by the federal states, for example at university hospitals, are paid under the TV-L nursing table (KR).
Does the table apply to part time?
Part-time staff receive table pay and allowances pro rata to their agreed weekly hours.
