Method

Annual 2026 tax liability for a single filer taking the standard deduction: federal income tax (IRS Rev. Proc. 2025-32), Social Security and Medicare, plus each state's income tax with its 2026 brackets, standard deduction, exemptions and the state-specific mechanics we model (California includes its 1.3% SDI). Local and county taxes are excluded, which flatters states like Maryland, New York and Ohio, noted deliberately. Full detail: US methodology.
