Required Salary Calculator Singapore 2026
Start from the take-home you need and work backwards to the gross salary to negotiate, inverted against the same CPF and IRAS rules as the main calculator.
| Required gross (annual) | $77,527 |
|---|---|
| Total deductions | $17,527 |
| Take-home (annual) | $60,000 |
Assumptions: Citizen/PR under 55, full CPF, earned-income and CPF reliefs; annual tax spread monthly. Solved by bisection against the same engine as the main calculator, accurate to the cent of the target.
Why you can't just multiply
CPF stops at the S$8,000 monthly ceiling and income tax is progressive, so the gross-to-net ratio changes with income, around the ceiling especially sharply. This tool inverts the full calculation for a citizen/PR under 55; EP holders (no CPF) keep substantially more of the same gross, which you can check in the main calculator.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my required gross salary in Singapore?
Enter your target net monthly income. The calculator adds back employee CPF and income tax to find the gross salary you need.
How much CPF do I contribute as an employee?
For workers aged 55 and below, the employee CPF contribution rate is 20 percent of gross wages, capped at a monthly ceiling of SGD 6,800 (ordinary wages). This is the main deduction beyond income tax.
Does the ordinary wage ceiling affect the calculation?
Yes. Ordinary wages above SGD 6,800 per month are not subject to CPF contributions. If your target net implies a gross above this threshold, the CPF calculation changes.
